The long awaited Asda store in Tain will soon begin to show visible signs of progress.
Five years after planning was first applied for,a public enquiry and a judicial review, the building of the store and petrol station is to commence. Preparations began last month for the overhead power cable works. This involves taking down part of the boundary wall and erecting temporary fencing. Work on the store itself will begin in March.
The store, which is anticipated to be open in late summer early autumn, is hoped to provide 220 new jobs in the community.
