With shooting season begun, a report carried out by the University of Strathclyde shows that Grouse Shooting has contributed tens of millions of pound to the Scottish economy over the past ten years.
Grouse shooting now generates at least £23.3 million per annum for the Scottish rural economy and supports over 1072 full time positions which is an increase since the last review in 2001.

Research has also shown that there are more grouse on the Scotland’s moors than expected as the severe weather did not have the dramatic impact on the red grouse as initially thought with on average almost two young grouse for every old one.
